Workaround ... The maps were assembled wrong ...

I saw the same issue in topo 3D ... Roads disappeared for a couple of
resolutions and then reappeared.

What I found was that the roads in question were categorized differently on
the topo 3d maps than on the base map. As you zoom in maps are first
displayed from the base map then they shift over, category by category as
the zoom level increases, to the detail map. The road category has to be
turned off from the base map and turned on from the detailed map at the same
level. If the roads are different categories this does not happenand, there
are one or two level where neither the base map or the detail map are active
for that miscategorized road.

I complained to Magellan but they told me it was the Navtek maps.
Bull!!Bull!!! Bull! Garmin does not display the same problem and they use
Navtek maps. Magellan assembled them wrond and In any case I bought a
Magellan product not a Navtek product. They stink and avoid taking
responsibility for their problems, but It's all that is available.

This is controled and can be modified see below for a section of post to the
Yahoo mapsend group:

an additional workaround to cause disappearing roads to be visable

is to modify the state's map.ini file for streets in the

[ACLV_INFO] section from (the AZ changes depending on the state):

AZ_Streets=1 1 501.000000 0

to

AZ_Streets=1 1 1001.000000 0

In the below problem the Arizona ini file at C:\Program

Files\Magellan\MapSe
nd Topo 3D USA\Map\AZ was modified.

I also modified the Utah map.ini file to make route S63 in Bryce NP

not disappear. Note that there are some map anomolies to the east of

Bryce NP that are present before the modification and therefore not

caused by the modification.

These are workarounds that seem to work for me. I do not know that

they will work for anyone else or if there are unknown

ramifications. Back up all files that you try to edit! I use topo 3D

for rural excursions so it is not an issue to me if detail is

displayed at an earlier level. I suspect that it would be much

different for someone using the program in a more conjested setting.
