| I buy a new laptop, sans serial ports. So I get, from Magellan, and not
cheap, a USB Serial adapter, for a Magellan Sportrak Pro, to use with
Magellan's Mapsend Topo, and the adapter dosen't work. I"ve read enough to
know that I'm not the only one.
What a bunch of BS!

| I use a Sportrak Pro with my laptop and have no problems. I purchased a USB
Serial adapter from my local computer shop (very cheap compared to Magellan)
and it works great. Have you checked the com port, baud rate and NMEA
settings?

| oh it just don't work, the settings are correct. The damned thing had no
drivers and the two computers I have won't recognize the Magellan adapter. I
bought one at a local computer shop, some generic brand, had it's own
drivers and works fine with my laptop.
And it was cheaper then the one I bought from Magellan's store!
