Magellan Roadmate 700/760 Blue Screen

My wife got a persistent blue screen when she turned on her Roadmate 700/760
last night. It turned out that the compact flash card used to backup the
setting had failed and the GPS device was stuck between writing the setting
and shutting down. When I took the CF card out, the device would start up
but it would not shutdown with the CF card in place. I could not even
detect the CF card on the card reader on my PC. So it must have been a
catastrophic failure.

The device is working now without the CF card.

PS. The GPS device is a Roadmate 700 upgraded with the Version 5.0 firmware
and maps.
