I cannot see names of towns/cities when zoomed out. Is this a normal
Megellan thing? I know Garmins show names when zoomed out to see highways

The Garmins have a setting where you can select the zoom level where
that will show up. The Detail level setting also has some effect on
when that will show up. Are there not comparable settings on the
Magellan?

On the 2200T, there really arent any settings about detail like my
Legend had. The only thing I can turn on and off are POIs. This seems
like a gigantic oversight on Megellans part, that or I am missing
something...

That's too bad. I was a Magellan Meridian guy until I changed to a
Garmin 76Cx this year. I'm still getting along with handhelds and
prefer that for now. The Garmins sure beat the daylights out of the
Magellans on software features.

I was a loyal Meridian user for a long time, but got driven away when I
looked into upgrading. Magellan is just not competing on the handheld
market. Don't know if they are competitive on the automotive/dash
mounted models but I'm not real optimistic about Magellan being able to
survive in the GPS wars. Its a shame too, they need to stay in the
battle to keep Garmin's greed levels and prices down. :> )

When/if I buy a automotive model it will be a Garmin too, I can use the
same mapping package for two receivers with the Garmin software.
