| Altimeter - Not Barometric
Anyone know of a gps that uses satellite for altimeter rather than a
barometric pressure?
Thanks

Almost all of them do. The addition of sensors for barometric
pressure (and compas direction) is a relatively new thing; with
Garmin, there is an "S" in the model code, eg 60C does not, 60CS does;
the sensor versions, if used (some, perhaps all allow turning them
off) have higher current consumption, thus lower batter life in
portables.

| My Sportrak Pro does pretty good on elevations. I just drove from southern
AZ to Palmer, Alaska. Of course I went over many passes. Most had posted
elevations, I was always within 20-30 feet, and if I bothered to stop I bet
it would have settled even closer. But when you have a 5K miles to drive
XXXX that stopping stuff.....
