With the autorouting the logic for choosing the road vectors is built
into the software. No options such as shortest or quickest route are
offered and it does not do multiple destination routing under autorouting.
What I think you can do is create waypoints at the destinations you want
to go to and number them in the order you want to visit them in. Then
look up the first waypoint, press Goto, choose streetroute, and it will
autoroute you to the first destination. When you get there, do the same
thing with the 2nd waypoint, etc., etc.
I'm basing this on the Meridian software, I don't have a eXplorist.
but I think that will work.
Did you know that the software in the new Garmin x series handhelds will
do autorouting on the basemaps roads and also do multiple destination
routing? And that they have the new SiRF III chipset with much better
sensitivity and speed?
Magellan has lost the support, software development, and hardware war to
Garmin. I've probably bought my last Magellan if they don't make some
serious efforts to get back into competition.
