| I just purchased an eXplorist 500. I use MS Streets 2006 on my laptop and
PDA. Can I make amps on Streets 2006 and import them to the GPS or is
Mapsend the only option? Also, I want to install an SD card and have maps
(Directroute) and Topo 3D to cover all of California. What size SD card
would be adequate to cover this mapping info? Thank you in advance for any
help, Pat.

| Mapsend is your only reasonable option.
I'm not going to try to explain how to do this here, but if you read the
messages here and in the Yahoo Explorist, Mapsend and Meridian groups, you
will learn how to add the topo lines from Mapsend Topo3D to the Mapsend
Direct Route maps, so you don't have to carry separate map sets. I have a
2Gb SD card in an Explorist 600 and I have loaded to it most of the
continental US (Direct Route with the topo lines added, and all POIs
downloaded to the GPS), and a little of Canada, both from the Direct Route
DVD and from Topo Canada (I don't believe you can combine these like you can
the US, but I haven't tried it either). Given the current price of a 2Gb
card, I wouldn't bother with anything smaller. If you only wanted CA, you
could probably do it easily in 256 or 512 Mb.
