| Hi all. It is Wednesday into the week after I was promised my RM700
back from Ft. Worth and I still don't have it. Misrepresentations
abounding.
I spoke last afternoon with someone claiming to be a floor supervisor
who said I will get it THIS week by Friday (a week late) and get
this...either he will get me my unit or he will issue a replacement. I
don't know if I want someone else's refurbished unit. Maybe they take a
long time to fix and they just keep sending people someone else's unit!
I feel really bad and foolish for sending my unit into them for 'just'
an update to the latest maps...comments?
Dovid
GPS'less in SC, GA, and FL this week..OH, KY, WV next week (GPS'less?)
and oh yeah, KS, NEB, IA the next week (GPS'less?)...hmmm

Well, you pays your money and you takes your chances.
I just ordered the upgrade today to arrive by Friday. Will let you know how
it goes. Last week I upgraded the firmware and index files via USB and my
700 seemed to take it ok.
Good luck

I have a few comments, just my opinion, not necessarily the truth.
(1) It was probably unwise to try to upgrade rigtht before a long trip - the
risks exceed the possible rewards.
(2) Don't trust service reps to give accurate repair time estimates - they
aren't the ones making the repairs.
(3) If they can't give you back your unit (you do have the serial number
don't you), I'd insist that they send you a new RM 760, with any current
upgrades applied, as a replacement. This is a more than reasonable request
and is good customer relations, especially since they've made you a promise
that they didn't keep.
(4) I'd also make it clear to them that people in this NG are watching to
see their response. I for one promise both you and them that I will never
buy another Magellan product if they don't take care of you. I'm sick and
tired of them having their service reps make commitmments to their customers
that they don't keep.
