Author Problems with Com Ports Explorist 400

I have a new Explorist 400 and the MapSend Topo Software. I installed
all the software that came with the unit and MapSend Topo. I can get
the computer to see the GPS and can create waypoint files on the
software and upload to the GPS fine. However I can not download from
the GPS to the software. When I have the GPS in File Transfer Mode,
the software sees one com port but when you autodetect or test, it
fails. When you try it in NMEA modes, it will see two com ports and
will connect on the new com port on the list. However it has an error
when you try to download waypoints to the computer and tells me to turn
NMEA off. What am I doing wrong?

When you say "cannot download to the software" Are you trying
to download waypoints from your eXplorist to the Mapsend program?

You should be able to download waypoints from the eXplorist
to Mapsend, by clicking on 'Waypoints' on the top bar. Then in
the resulting dropdown menu choosing "Load from File'.

You should then get a little window popping up asking:

Where do you want to load the data from?

o GPS Unit or SD Programmer
o PC hard drive.

Choose 'GPS unit or SD Programmer'.

Of course make SURE your eXplorist screen says that it's in
'File transfer mode'.

You can't upload or download anything when in NMEA mode.
In NMEA mode, all the unit is doing is blindly sending the
received satellite data out the USB port in a steady stream.

Yes I am trying to download from the Explorist to the MapSend software.
When I click and do it how you reccomend, the only file that shows up
under Waypoints under E: drive is a file with a .upt extension and an
error comes up telling me that that is not a MapSend file. If I try to
click on "Download from GPS" under Waypoints, I get a Com Port error.
Then if I click "OK" a test or autodetect box comes up with one com
port showing. If I do autodetect, it fails to find the GPS. If I
click on "Test" it also fails to find the GPS.
