I've had an eXplorist 210 for a few months now. I'm using Mapsend
Topo 3D to upload detail maps to it. I use it mostly in the car.

I live in the country, and it works very well on sparse country
roads and highways. The display shows my speeds and position
almost instantaneously.

I have a fairly large city nearby (Population 700K). When I go into
town, it's a different story. My display starts lagging badly. It
can take up to 8 seconds for an update. When the updates happen
the position indicator jumps by one or two city blocks rather than
moving smoothly between them.

If I come to a stop, it can take up to 8 seconds before the speed
reads zero.

If I use the unit as a NMEA source for MS Streets and Trips or
with the Mapsend software, it works perfectly. So, it appears
that it's the screen updating that is problematic and not
satellite reception.

Is this NORMAL for the eXplorist 210? Or do I have a bad one?

Do Garmins do this ?
