| Are there any map updates available yet for the Roadmate 700. I read somewhere there was to be a map update available this fall.
Thanks

There was a thread here back on the 26th of October, subject "Map
Updates Available (for $79.95)" that says the updates are available now.
And as the subject indicates, they are not free if that was part of
expectations.

That was for the Roadmate 800. AFAIK the Roadmate 700/760T update is not yet
available.

| The updates just came out this week. The ordering page was not working
properly at first. It is working now. Enter leading zeros in the quantity
box. You have to enter the Coupon Code box by box so you cannot copy and
paste the entire code at once. The Coupon Code can be applied only once per
order. You have to register the device before you can order the update.

Thank you! I just ordered mine....sure hope it's going to be worth the wait.
Just today my 760 showed me out in a plowed field that was really an
Interstate that had been open 2.5 years.

Thanks for the info!
Some questions (for anyone):
- Does it have any new features or just map and POI updates?
- What is the version of the map data? [Check Map GDF Version on the Product
Information screen (under Option -> Configuration -> Diagnostics). I think
the current 700/760 version is Q204 (2nd quarter of 2004).]
- Does it contain the AAA Tour Guide info?
- Does the map and POI update work with Windows Vista?
- Does the update contain a POI manager? If so, does it run on Windows
Vista?
Thanks in advance for answers to any or all of the above.

Jerry,
I ordered the update last night and will attempt to answer your questions
shortly after the install.

Your "this week" was two weeks ago by the time I read your message.
I went to the Magellan web site to order the update and cannot find a
way of doing so. If I follow the link for "update available ...", I get
led to a page that says "out of stock" with no method of ordering.
I'm a bit ticked that even though I had registered my 760 on their web
site and asked for email notification of updates, nothing from them ever
reached me.
I also notice that Amazon et al are offering 760's for $179 -- a lot
less than I paid for mine several years ago when it first came out.

I have waited over a year for update for my 700. Paid almost $1000 for
it a few years back. Customer service told me an update was going to
be available last summer(2006). Update is finally available, but you
have to update your devise first. I saw that Garmin had updates
available for sale in BestBuy. I think that Magellan is not going to
be customer friendly at all, based upon what their response has been
to updates . I think that the entry level Garmin(200) series is
probably for the money (under $200) going to be a much better value.
