Fired up my Road Mate 800 a couple of days ago and the LCD screen was
all garbled. Still that way. Me thinks its history. Does anyone know if
these things can be repaired or are they history when the display goes.

Unit is under warranty and I did send a request/message to Magellan.
Wasn't really expecting a reply; but I did get one. Was instructed to
send it to a repair depote in Ontario and they gave me a web
address/site to contact for shipping information. This is the message
they sent to me:

Typical Magellan!

If I have to purchase a new GPS; which one would be a unit that would be
similar to the Roadmate 800.

Just got of the phone with one of Magellan's support representatives.
One hour and 30 minutes on the line and I was finally able to retrieve a
address to send this thing. I'm not to good at speaking PigEnglish;
because that is what these four East Indian gentlemen used. Talk about
frustrating. They had to literally spell everything as I could not
understand a thing they would say. Maybe it was lunch time and their
mouths were full of food! Don't know; but I need a drink!
