I just got the Magellan Crossover GPS. I really like it.

I notice that their is a connector on the bottom of the GPS unit. I
assume it contains antenna, power and other functionality.

Does anyone know if their is a car mount that takes advantage of this
connector? It would be nice if, for example, the power adapter could be
plugged into the mount and not directly to the unit.

An external antenna would use a coaxial connector. Other Garmin
Roadmate models have used the SMB Female and MMCX connectors.

You can go online to someplace like Mouser Electronics and look up the
connectors in the online catalog, then open a *.pdf data sheet to see
the physical specs for the connector you have and determine which
connector you have on the Crossover.

But it has to have a coaxial connector for RF input, if the connector on
the bottom is not a coaxial connector that model might not be able to
use an external antenna. Does Magellan offer an external antenna for
it? Or does Gilsson? If they do you may be able to ask them what the
antenna connector it.

Also, try searching eBay for a Crossover antenna you can get more info
from the listing details sometimes.

There is not a typical connector on the unit for an external antenna.
The connector on the bottom is a "dock" type connector like you'd see on
many cell phones. There is one coax looking part, and a row of pin
connectors. I suppose it would be possible to make an external antenna
that would plug in there, but it looks more like it was intended to go
into some sort of dock mount that would have the proper connectors on it.
