Author Problem with Magellan 3D Topo map software

Does anyone else have a problem with trying to load maps either to a card
reader or the unit itself? I have an eXplorist 400 and version 1.00 of the
map software and so far the software is a real PITA. I try to load a new
region and nothing happens. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
