| I bought one of these about two weeks ago. I have updated to the latest
software, after calling tech support. But the maps are so bad, in too
many places. I live in (extremely populated) South Florida and some
major streets it does not seem to get right. Perhaps there is a way to
update the maps, but I didn't get this impression from tech support. I
will try calling them again. And if not update is available I will
return this. Not sure what to try instead, perhaps the Nuvi 360... Any
thoughts ?

Roadmate maps can be upgraded, but Magellan has no updates at this time
for the 2200T. If you registered your product, you will be notified
when an update is available.

You may find that ALL the major GPS units on the market have the same
errors that your 2200T has. This is because they all use the same data
source for their maps. This data is supplied by an outfit called NAVTEQ.
I have some issues where I live. There's a small town (pop 250) nearby.
The NAVTEQ maps are missing some streets (That have been there for over
20 years).
I went to a GPS dealer and tried a hands-on check of other units. I
found that these errors are the same on the current Tom Tom, Mio and
Garmin units.
Check your area by zooming in on http://maps.google.com/ If the
errors are the same there, you probably won't get more accuracy buying
a new GPS unit. Google uses NAVTEQ data and is usually pretty current.
Best bet is to do a hands-on check of the street data before purchasing
another unit.
If all GPS units have the same error, the best you can do is report the error
to NAVTEQ so they can change it in future versions of their map data.

Thanks for the info. Since I can return this whenever, I may hold on to
it until they update the Map and see if this changes anything. I did
check Google and it does not make these mistakes.
