hello,
have not posted in awhile and have searched online and here for info about
uploading .wpt files to display on a google map or virtual earth type of web
map. would like to see the corner waypoints of a property displayed on a
arial, or real time type of map. anything like this possible?
would .wpt files need to be converted to an extension google likes to play
nice with? not looking for surveyor's accuracy but would expect the normal
margin of error. this is an exercise to see rough approximation of a 40 acre
plot on a map that is more recent than mapsend, and is view the points as an
overlay to a satellite type of image.
thanks in advance
pete

Hi, you might do a search for USAPhotomaps and give that a try!
They use the 1 meter Terra Server maps! At least for my area, those
maps are pretty close,, closer that other web maps that I have tried,
including Google Earth! As near as I can measure, Google Earth is
about 15 meter off in my area, the 1 meter Terra Server maps are
within 2 or 3 meters????

You can give it a location (or have your GPS hooked up and it will
locate you) then you can download the maps to fill the screen! If
you want more area, zoom out and have it fill the screen again,,,
there is a point where if you zoom out far enough it will download
lower res maps! You can down load way points and or tracks from the
GPS! If you have a GPS connected to a laptop, it will trace you as
you travel around! As the Terra Server maps only cover the USA this
only works if your in the USA!! It will also do Terra Server topos
as well as some higher res urban areas?????

You have to convert files to use them in Google earth,, I like
g7towin!
