defective CD - mapsend topo 3d usa anyone?

| Wow, what an ordeal. I just spend 2+ hours on the phone trying to
talk common sense to someone at Magellan to no avail. I received a
costco packed eXplorist 400 with topo 3d usa as a gift a while ago.
Unfortunately, the first cd ("Install CD 1 / Version 1.00 /
M3DUS_100_1 / #500160 / 1 of 3") won't read on any computer cd drive.
The others all work fine but I can't install the software. Magellan
told me to repurchase the software - really frustrating considering I
just removed the saran wrap from the jewel case.
Anyhow, I'm throwing myself on the mercy of someone who might have
such a CD and would be willing to send me an ISO image or backup. It
is only 1 of 3 required to install the software - no piracy here. Any
takers? I would be in your debt.
Thanks!

Have you tried to take it back to Costco? They are a reputable outfit
and probably will give you a new unit with a new disk.

I purchased Mapsend Topo 3D on ebay for $50. Unfortunately, it was one of
the sets from the defective lot.
I called Thales (about 15 min wait) and they sent out a new set of CDs the
day after I called - 4/19/06. No charge, no other questions except FAX a
copy of my receipt and a request that I destroy the old CDs. The woman I
spoke with was very friendly and helpful. I thought it was pretty good tech
support....
Things may have changed since then.
You could try copying contents of first CD to your HD and install from
there, unless the CD is completely unreadable. You could bring it back to
Costco or you could always bittorrent, if you're so inclined.

| Hello Andy
So what was the final outcome? Did you get what you needed?

Hmm,
Why not return it to Costco and exchange for another one?
