Magellan 760 update

| Well, the FedEx truck brought me the long anticipated update today. This was
in spite of their website showing "UNDETERMINED" for my shipping method and
date. Suppose I should tell them 12/10/07 was the ship date and the carrier
was FedEx? What a company!

I know what you mean. Mine came Thursday Dec 13 and the Magellan
website still doesn't even show it as shipped. They were supposedly
going to send an email when it shipped. Hmmm, maybe my VISA won't be
charged since it hasn't shipped...lol.

Well, it turned the 760 into a door stop.
(Would not power on after the install).
Never again.....

| Ok, I got my 760 back, to perform the map upgrade I copied the contents of
the dvd to a folder on the d: drive, because doing it from the dvd created
to many disconnects, I also closed al the programs running in the
background, disable the screen saver and the power futures. Took about 2Hrs,
and now is working properly.
However; this experience I went through would not recommended to anyone:
-Purchased map update
-Installation does not work from DVD
-Copied DVD to D: drive and installed it
-Installation damage unit
-10 hours on the phone within two days to get RA#, talking to people that
transfer my calls from dept. to dept., leaving me on hold for
hrs.
-Had to pay for shipping although their software made the damage
-A 3 week turned around
BTW: The update that we purchased is old, released 3rd quarter of 2006
Never again I would purchased any thing from Magellan
