I know my RoadMate 800 has some sort of interface cable to PC. If
I wanted to use MS Streets and Maps on my laptop instead of the GPS
own moving map display, can it interface so it is providing the
lat/long info to Streeets and Maps? Or some other PC Map program?

There is no serial interface to the RoadMate series which will send out NMEA
data. The USB connection is only for USB Mass Storage. You would need
something like the eXplorists, SporTraks or Meridian to act as a GPS
receiver for a computer based mapping program. You can get a USB or
Bluetooth GPS receiver on eBay for under $50.00.
