| SE K608i on 3 T+T600 (12 Months) - Mobile Outlet, 10 months free via
cashback
Haven't seen this posted yet - ordered one of these earlier today, seems to
be the best 3 deal with a decent-sized and specc'ed phone I've seen
recently....a friend has the phone and it
looks small and sleek enough, with a decent camera. The current 3g Nokia's
seem a bit bulky on the pocket
There is an equivalent 10 month cashback deal on MobileRainbow's site, but
given
that they've only been around for a short while, and didn't answer the
phone
when I rang to find out more (not to mention e2Save and OneStopPhoneShop
both refusing to pricematch it, despite their well-publicised 'guarantees'!)
I avoided it as a possible cashback risk. The Mobile Outlet seem to have a
strong history judging by their having been around since 2000, and by the
comments I found via google groups.
Minimum term cost is £60 for the 12 months. (12 month contract). e2save only
offered a £150 cost deal (7 months free) as a comparison, claiming to offer
the same would be losing them money?! Has the 3 commission structure changed
recently?

Can anyone vouch for these people? I've not heard of them before...

Hi AC
Mobile Outlet have been in business for years and I have never heard of
any issues with them. Google on this group etc and see for yourself.
Also if you do go for this offer with them via my site (see below) I
will chase up any issues IF they arise in the future as I put a lot of
business their way.
If after the above you are still wary of them then have a look at other
retailers listed on my site for this phone and the deals they can
offer: http://www.mobilechecker.com/display.asp?hs=k608i

Thanks, Andy.
I am weary as their cashback terms are not that clear. Their T&Cs state
that you have to send in all your bills up to the 6-month point - no
indication of how much they pay out each time.
I don't want to end up with another Titanic, like I did with Forward
Cellular.

Hi again AC
The deal is as follows: Send the first six bills together to claim the
first half of the cash back and then your 11th and 12th bills together
to claim the second half.
The deal on the K608i has 10 months free and the first three months are
automatically reduced to half price by 3, which means cash back will be
equal to eight and a half months free line rental, which is =A3127.50 at
month 6 and =A3127.50 at month 12.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

| This looks pretty ropey.
Phones4U, CPW, e2save and dial-a-phone are always pretty keen compeditors.
Any independent who is showing much greater savings that any of the former
outlets you need to be very wary of. The big companies are on the higherst
levels of commission so can offer the best deals and the best chance of
actually getting a cashback honoured.
Buyer beware!! Your contract is with a network and they will rightly ignore
any reference to cashback deals made with dealers.
£60 for a SonyEricsson k608i with 500 mins and 100 texts each month for a
year! 3 are pretty desparate but the above sounds too good to be reliable. I
would need to see some very clear positive feedback about the outfit
concerned before gambling on that 'out of step' offer.

Right, because the big retailers would never make ridiculous profits
just because they can get mugs like you to buy at that price, would they?...

That's my view also. It does sound too good to be true, but then again
so was FWDCellular. All their deals were at least 50% cheaper than all
the major dealers and they went titsup eventually. I don't necessarily
want to go for this deal if there is even a slight chance they won't pay
up - £30/month for 12 months minimum is pretty steep otherwise!
I'm still not convinced as I've seen no hard evidence that they are legit.

| At the end of the day 'you pays your money and takes your choice' and
if you search these groups as I have suggested then you will find there
are no issues (or none that I can see or have heard of) with Mobile
Outlet.
The previous company I highlighted doing this were a realtively new
business so a little bit 'riskier' in some people's eyes but again the
first three months are
automatically reduced to half price by 3.
The best part of this deal with this retialer is you are getting you
money back in 2 installments (month 6 and 12) rather than other
retailers that sometimes need you to send 4 claims.
Also talk3g.co.uk can you edit your posts BEFORE posting as you posted
my whole reply from earlier which makes it harder for others to read

I have found virtually no comments at all!

As opposed to e2save that has a pretty good reputation on this group?

I disagree with this point. That's the worst part if you look at it like
this:
Divide it by 4 and you have smaller chunks. If they miss one payment
it's not the end of the world - there's another three to be paid. If
divided by two and they miss on but pay the other, you've lost 50% of
your cashback.
Now, if the probability of them missing one and paying the other is not
the same as them not paying anything, then this is a totally different
point.

This is my point exactly as this retailer is not complained about by
regular uk.telecom.mobile posters.

Yes but is the glass half empty or half full?
You could see this as a bonus as myself and lots of others will do in
the fact that if they suddenly cease trading and do not honour the
cashback (after several years trading fine) at month 7 say then you
have paid =A315 month for a free phone and will have 500 mins and 100
texts for the whole of your 12 month contract.
Even IF you were to pay =A330 month from month 4 onwards (3 pay half for
1st 3 months) to get a decent free phone and 500 anytime mins and 100
texts would that be such a rip off? It is like everything in life you
can take a risk and you may get something cheaper or you can play it
safe in the knowledge that you get exactly what you asked for but pay a
premium (like an insurance) for this security.
No one is forcing anyone to take this offer but we are all trying to
say this is one of the best deals there has been for a while and I will
not comment on this further on the group but feel free to email me if
you take issue with my points.

Probably another case of the glass half empty or half full...
To me that suggests the company is so new, that's why there are no
comments about them! In fact, a quick Google search seems to point to
you as the only person to comment about them, in fact you actually
promote them!
Your above paragraph and your original post saying something about you
having an influence as you "give them a lot of business" leads me to
this conclusion.

So in reality you are actually saying "be prepared to not get a penny in
cashback".

No I am perfectly satisfied posting here thank you. That way everyone
sees the details about this company and posts are subsequently archived
and searchable by others on Google. You almost sound like you are
afraid of posting here...

All I meant is that we could argue over this for weeks but at the end
of the day you have to make your own mind up about things. All I was
trying to do was give my opinion and I am not going to continue to do
this on this thread.
Cheers

This has now been changed to a 9-month free deal, still on a 12-month
contract. So minimum term cost is now £90.
