Placed an order for an iMate SP5 on phones2udirect - they're the only
people showing stock and offering a decent price for an o2 contract.

I figured the website might be misleading regarding the stock status -
that seems to be a standard practice for UK phone websites, as far as I
can tell, and expansys are still showing as "10 days" for that handset -
so wasn't too unhappy when they emailed me on Friday to tell me that
they were expecting stock "this week".

When I rang yesterday, I was told that they have stock of the phone but
that orders were being filled in order of date placed - a reasonable policy.

Today I called to check on the order and was told (by "Natalie") that in
fact they have not had any stock of the phone yet. When I queried this
and explained that someone else had told me otherwise she backtracked
hard and made some attempt at an excuse about phones on specific
networks or some-such.

Anyway, that's by the by... is this rolling-delivery-date tactic
something they're known for? And does anyone have any inside knowledge
as to when the SP5 is actually likely to be sent out?

Same thing happened to me, I ordered yesterday assuming they had stock,
then called phones2direct, now they say it will be next week
(hopefully).

Not happy!!

Woohoo!

I called again on Thursday and was told (by Julie, if I remember
rightly) that stock was trickling through slowly and they were filling
back orders in order. I asked for an estimated date and (given stock
arriving at the current speed) the lady I spoke to said she expected
that I would receive my phone on Tuesday.

I wasn't particularly hopeful but I was going to give them the benefit
of the doubt and wait until tomorrow before calling again - and just now
I received an email stating it's just been despatched, and I even have a
Special Delivery tracking number!

So hats off to the honesty of the lady I spoke to last, and for those
still waiting I guess just keep patient :)
