I have an old 3310e on the Orange network but with the Virgin tariff (OVP)
where I only pay for calls (albeit 15p/min for 1st 3 mins, then 5p/min
thereafter). My monthly bill is c. £10 with a split of 50 mins/25 texts).
The handset is on its last legs - what are my best options? (as I believe
that Orange no longer do OVP on Virgin).

- new PAYG ?
- new contract ?
- used handset from eBay ?
- something else ?

Thanks

Andrew

buy a new nokia for =A330 and take the sim out of the 3310e and put it
in the new phone. New phone needn't mean contract.

Just get a new 3310 - and put your Virgin OVP simcard into it.

£35 inc postage from us, including a set of three brand new Fascias,
Mains and Car Charger, Manual and Warranty.

Can I put my OVP Virgin SIM into any phone then?

I have tried this in the past with a Motorola T720i and my existing SIM, and
whilst the basic phone/text works ok, some of the newer functionality of
the phone wouldn't work.

Thanks

There is nothing to stop you asking for this!!!

I had an OVP Virgin SIM which had never been in a GPRS phone until recently.
It turned out that the account/SIM were not GPRS enabled. I just phoned
Orange and they were quite happy to turn on GPRS (and MMS etc.) when I
told them what the new phone was!

First 5 minutes, not 3.

Hi Hooley

It depends on the 'status' of the phone that you purchase. Most Pay As
You Go mobile phones will come locked to the network they are purchased
on meaning you will have to get these unlocked (often have to pay for
this) to use your orange sim card in a t-mobile phone for example.
However some will not so you will need to find this out about the
specific phone and network combination you go for.

I personally recommend the Nokia 3120 phone as this is able to be
unlocked on the internet for FREE (so you can purchase it on any
network and your Orange sim will work). The phone is a really good
phone for the money as it has a clear colour screen, a really useful
speakerphone function and also has an XHTML web browser and polyphonic
ringtones.

If you want to se this and every other mobile phone that is currently
available then have a look at my site here:

All you should need to do is ring orange and they should enable the
ability on the sim to go on the mobile internet (WAP) and allow you to
receive picture messages for free straight away.

Good luck!

Andy

Handset, or battery?

Virgin still do it, though.
