I can't work it out at all - I tried the demo on the O2 site
(http://o2.co.uk/i-mode) and I can't see what's so special about it over
normal WAP. If you want a laugh then try following through on the
Lastminute.com site (it was the first one loaded when I tried the demo) - I
picked Eating out, then a place, then a restaurant. It then had a 'contact
us' option - which then led on to about 10-15 pages of Terms & Conditions!!
If that's the big i-mode difference then I'm not sold! If they'd just given
the phone number that would have done the trick!

The i-mode sites have apparently been optimised so that
they work faster than WAP, but give a web-like experience.
Sounds like a gimmick to me.

Probably because there is no real difference.

If i remember it right, i think it's something like that yes. Actually,
it's been there for ages already in other countries such as France and it
was maybe interesting 2 or 3 years ago but now that 3G is taking off and
offers broadband speed from your mobile and that more and more mobiles have
a full web browser on board, i don't quite understand the point of
introducing i-mode. I'd rather see at last proper 3G data tariffs no
limited to a miserable few MB.
