Author Orange, Carphone Warehouse and a Washing Machine

Hi, All,

Anyone had any experience with a replacement phone on Orange pay
monthly, through Carphone Warehouse, when the (wife's) phone (shiny,
black Motorola RAZR V3) has been through the washing machine and is,
distinctly, knackered?

Can easily bag a replacement, but not sure what position is re.
contract & who actually owns the phone (came "free" with 12-month
contract). Not covered by (ripoff (?!)) Orange Care - worried that
Orange/CPWH are goign to stuff us for 400 notes or whatever.

Help appreciated - too old to understand all the ins & outs of phone
contracts...

Matt

Replacement handset cost is about £129 (from O2 student site, but you'll
also need to budget to get it unlocked if you want to use it on Orange).
You own the handset from day one. You may want to check your home contents
insurance to see if it's covered under that.

....... you can get the Orange variant from Amazon for £130 - simply pop your
contract SIM in it (it should be okay), and throw away the PAYG SIM that
comes with it!

Guys,

Thanks very much for your advice - much happier missus this morning!
SIM has survived (checked in my phone) so am about to go shopping on
Amazon.

Thanks again...

Actually, p.s.... got a shiny new V3 for =A3135 in the hand at The Link
- always knew they'd come in useful one day...

Orange Care is easily the best phone insurance policy available, with
next day delivery for replacements and £15 admin charge (excess) per
claim.

If you're not covered by Care or CPW insurance then you will probably
need to turn to your home contents policy. Replacement cost would be
around £200.

The phone is owned by the contract holder, I.e. your wife.
