Hi there

Can anyone please let me know if the SE K750, and W800 (when it comes
out) suffer the same fate as the K700 - shortcut key wise, on certain
Operators.

I had the K700 on O2 and the joystick was totally configurable, and the
C and side buttons all did what they were supposed to do. But I read
and heard that on Orange, and pos Voda, most buttons and shortcuts were
pre-configured, and not changable from within the menu.

I know the W800 isn't out yet, but it is supposed to be based on the
K750 so wondered if anyone had any ideas on this one too.

Thanks for your replies (hopefully)

The K750i on Orange is OK shortcut key wise. Yes they have screwed with
menus etc, but teh keys are OK. I can't recall what the Vodafone shortcut
keys are like (I had one to debrabd yesterday), but the menus are very bad
looking and you can't set MP3s as ringtones etc. I'd avoid a Voda branded
one at all costs! Plus of course they're not black. But I think you'll be OK
with other operators.

As for the W800, I haven't flashed any with non SE frmware, but should
imagine it would be the same. The only annoying with the (debranded) SE W800
firmware is that the top key has moved from a shortcut menu to a walkman
menu, which I don't like. Other than that quite a funky looking piece of
firmware.

The direction key short cut menus can't be set in all firmware versions (my
personal phone was on Orange and the firmware version stopped it), but I
think this was a bug and is now fixed.

Basically I'd get a K750 or W800 - nice phone, but avoid Vodafone if
possible as their branding is awful.

It isn't the end of the world anyway as they can easily be flashed with any
firmware,

Personally I like the SE K750 firmware (what I'm using), with SE W800 as a
close second. The W800 media player looks much much nicer, but I like my
shortcut ket too much. This may be configurable (I haven't played with the
W800 that much), but annoyed me.

Hoep this helps

Thanks for the reply Aaron.

So can the Orange versions have MP3's as ringtones? Even ones copied to
the phone from the PC? Because am I correct in thinking that the Voda
ones you had to dl from Live on the K700?

Cheers

Orange ones will allow you to have any MP3 as a ringtone, even those from
the PC

Vodafone branded handsets (which most are) will only let you use "vodafone"
ones from live.

Incidently, saw a D750 today on T Mobile, prefer unbranded ones (hardware
wise) but like the shutter. Didn;t try firmware as we had to get it
debranded and shipped in a rush.
