that works just installing it to the phone or if i need any other equipment?
Also does it use my bandwidth allocation or my minutes?
I've been looking for more info on it but I can't seem to find very much on
it at all

You haven't really looked far have you ??
possibly a good place to start apart from google,(which by the way turns up
multiple pages of info about it and the hardware needed) is checkpoint (free
add-on software for tomtom), or freewareppc.com, or totalpda.co.uk/forum, or
xda-developers.com
is the tomtom website, they seem to know a thing or too about there
software, or if your really stuck for info just putting "tomtom" or GPS
Pocketpc in ebay.co.uk lets you have untold pages of stuff, just read thru a
couple of the auctions and your'l soon see what you need to use the
software.. :)

maybe I did see the info i needed and just didn't understand it then. i saw
stuff about using it for a PDA and needing a GPRS receiver....but the XDA is
already a GPRS receiver so I didn't know if i could skip that bit and
things. I have read through google but I'll have another look and see what
i come up with. Thanks for those sites.

Go back and read it again. You need a GPS receiver for satnav not GPRS.

Having a look around it looks like it's about £50 for a blue tooth receiver,
is that right or should there be something cheeper?

The antenna is usually built into the unit. Be aware though that if you
intend to useit in a car that you may have to mount the receiver at the back
if you have a heat reflecting windscreen.

pft....i have a crappy S reg 1.2 Punto....the electric windows barely work
never mind a heat sensative window thingy...if I figure out how to get the
GPS thing going it'll probably double the value of the car....

Might be cheaper and easier to put £10 of petrol in the tank?
(A low shot; I know)

Low...but accurate :o)
I'm suprised it still goes as well as it does but it works absolutly fine
and I only drive long distances a couple of times a month...other than that
it's just quick jaunts in and out of town so I've always been reluctant to
bother getting a new one
