Guy Austin

I want to send out an ordinary text from a very old phone to an email
address

I have found a couple of commercial gateways eg
send E user@address.com normal message to 81333
and the server will forward the message to the email address

but do the networks provide this service?

customer service do not seem to know

thanks Guy

If you have o2 you could try mmail, it lets you send and receive emails
using ordinary texts.

The only network that provides a send/receive service is T-Mobbile.

T-Mobile virtuals (Virgin and easyMobile) provide a send service only.
