Porting out and back in

I'll be porting out of Orange to a payg and then back in. I have an
O2 payg sim - how long do I need to stay on O2 before they'll give me
a pac, and will they charge for it? Is there a better network to do
this with?

Any PAC code is valid for 30 days, hence you will have to wait for the
31st day before you will be able to obtain another.

I have always used Virgin, and they have never charged me for a PAC.
