| Hi
If someone buys a phone new that is on Tesco mobile network, can they
put a o2 SIM in ( PAYG ) and it will just work without been unlocked.
As Tesco is on o2 network.

It will only work with a Tesco SIM, unless you get it unlocked.

Nope, cos Tesco mobile usually GID1 Sim lock their phones as well as SP lock
it
On the other hand O2 usually don't GID1 Sim lock their phones,
only SP lock them, so you can use any Virtual network Sim like
Tesco mobile running on O2
Another is T Mobile don't GID1, but most of it's Virtuals like Virgin, do.
A general SPunlock will clear all the locks
