Orange do have their own 'o2 online' style tariffs, called 'Direct plans'
available through the website for new customers, or possibly through
retentions for existing customers out of contract.

Yes, retentions can definitely offer the direct tariffs, even to
low-spending customers. I was offered 100 mins & 100 texts for £20 with a
<£20 call spend. If you spend more than £30 per month, you may be able them
to pricematch a 3 tariff.

When you consider that the same plan would cast £25.99 per month to
anyone walking in off the street it's not actually anywhere near as bad
as you make out. To a mobile phone network £20 per month is well below
average so you're not going to get an absolutely top tariff for it.

I have a low call spend too on orange, and orange retentions offered 400
mins and 500 texts for £20 per month... I don't use them mind you, but it's
the offer that counts :)

| O2 retentions offered me 200 x net minutes and 500 texts for £15 a month. I
hardly use half the messages and minutes but its nice to know how much I'm
going to spend each month.

£20 a month is not to be sniffed at imo. Why does someone who walks in off
the street have a priority over a current customer?
Is it too much to ask that everyone is treated equally?

It's not actually worth anything when you factor in the massive handset
subsidy that goes with it. Typically over £200.

I didn't say that they did.

Of course it is. People who spend more money will get treated better.
