Just the other day I called 3 to report a lack of signal in an area that
supposedly should have had a strong one. They insisted there were no
transmitter problems and that I should try my sim in another phone or try
another sim in my phone. I wonder what advice they will dish out in future.
Anyway it turned out to be a transmitter problem.

I keep hearing that networks are supposed to allow you to unlock your
phone for a fair fee - is this true?

I've got a few spare apostrophes in the back of my van if you're
interested...

Blimey, a man with a van that actually has what he needs for the job in the
back of it!

Ah...but he never said that he was a wordsmith now, did he? For all you
know, he may just be a very ill-equipped plumber. ;)

No. If he needed apostrophes for the job, there would be none left in
the van, would there?
I recall the checkout operator at the supermarket making some comment
when I asked for a carrier. She said something like "another person
with no bag" and I replied "No, I've got dozens of carrier bags at
home; I always forget to take them when I go shopping".

From the article in 'Mobile' it would seem to be to stop people buying them
cheaply in the UK and selling them abroad.

No doubt '3' are anxious to encourage an retain custom in the UK.
From what one reads in this group most of their customers are keen to leave
'3' within a short time of signing up. A lesson for someone here I
suspect...

Cheap..? By forcing PAYG customers to top up every month regardless of
whether they use the credit or not..? This must be a new definition of the
word "cheap" that I was previously unaware of.
I wouldn't touch 3 with a long pole.

I'd have to check this again but didn't '3' recently do away with the 30 day
expiry for cash top ups?. Think it's just the bundles that have the 30 day
expiry now. Anyway I should have made it clear I was referring to their
contract deals being cheap.Personally if I was to go PAYG I'd go with
Tesco's or EasyMobile.

I'd have thought I'd have seen mention of it on here if they had done away
with the 30 day expiry. I may have missed it of course.
I agree with your comment on Tesco, I ported my Orange number to them in
December. See the other thread in this group about why Easymobile is not
such a good idea.

| I was in Woolies this morn and was nearly tempted by their 19.99 phone
(actually 49.99 with £30 credit) just to see how their coverage compared to
my Orange phone. Then spotted in the small print on the tarrif chart about
the 30 day use or die malarky. Nuff said.

| The next stage will be to glue the phone into the customers hand.
Although after a few months the hospitals will overflow with amputees!
