I have an old (over 6 years) Philips Easylife GSM handset which I keep for
occasional and emergency use, and for receiving incoming calls. Recently
when I tried to add credit, there was a message from O2 customer services
telling me that the service was being discontinued as the "technology was
being switched off".
Could anyone explain what O2 are making obsolete as I would have thought
that all GSM handsets connect to the same network, the only difference is
mine is twice the size of most modern phones which I don't mind.

Thanks in advance

Are you sure they weren't referring to the way you top up?
