Orange: anyone else been charged for data downloads you've not made?

| When my February bill came in I was alarmed to discover I have been charged
just over £80 for data calls I know I haven't made.
I only ever use my phone as a 'modem' when I'm away on holiday - as years of
use of my Orange account will witness, yet during a 12 day stint in February
and mainly in the middle of the night when my phone would probably be
switched off, I am down as having downloaded data -that in Orange-speak
means connected to the internet.
No one can explain this, even the tech support guy appreciates that it is
highly unlikely as I am at home (where I have a broadband internet
connection), and that I have never ever made calls after midnight, but
still, the records show I've used this 'ghost' data.
Am I victim of a scam?
Are Orange employees somehow passing their use onto unsuspecting customers?
Has someone found a way to hack th e Orange system?
I would appreciate it if anyone has any sure-fire ideas because this worries
me - and it could happen again....and you should be worried, coz it could be
you next month!

> well, I've been hit by huge data transfer charges whilst abroad. I
collected emails only once or twice a day and expected just a few Megabytes
, not 30. Orange told me the only way to check is to monitor the data
transfer volume on my mobile but as I did not monitor this, I'm stuck with
the bill. In any event, i bet if i told Orange that I did not agree with
their bill, they would hardly accept what my telephone tells me. There is no
extra info. for data charges, no dates, no nothing - just a total data
volume for the billing period.

I had a S750 with the software problem - the last time i got it to
connect to the net when i tried was late last summer - yet often my
bill showed data - although i had a 50 meg allowance so there was no
added bill.
I really dont envy you trying to speak to customer services - as most
of them dont have a clue.
