N80 owner thoughts/gripes sought & sum questions

| As I'm on the verge of getting an N80 (still need to get one in my
hands to check it out), I'm seeking owner thoughts and opinions.
Like does it have a recurrent alarm, or do you need to use the
calender?
Is the slide OK, being a 'soft slide'?
The slide doesn't slide when in jeans pockets etc does it? (My bro
complains his N70 does and likes to take pictures of his pocket)
Can you set alarmed notes and tasks like on S700i for example?
Does it STILL have the crappy fixed size user dictionary that chucks
one out when full and you add one more ? (the N70 does)
I assume you can set your own tones for both ringing and messages?
Timed profiles on it?
I assume you need to, and there is, keylock for the exterior buttons?
What are the camera pictures like?
Will it run symbian apps that work on the N70 (for example) ?
Is the fone generally stable (doesn't lock up etc)?
Anyone got feedback on the receive sensitivity? (My works is a poor
signal area for my network)
Any irritations that really cheese you off?
(I'm currently using my old 6200 because my S700i p1ssed me off just
one more time too often and met my wall at high velocity-tho after
successfully coping my many beatings and kickings I must say)

| Its a crappy phone. Forget about running N70 apps.
U need ver 3 software to run on this phone.
Will self restart whenever conneted to wifi.
Replaced the phone 3 times in 2 days!!! Till the vendor out of stock!!!
Still having the same problem.
My advise hold on to yr N70. Not worth it.

| The alarm seems to need restarted every time.
Slide is lovely. Moves a little in pocket, but I've yet to receive
internal images; it takes effort to start the camera.
The Calendar is at least as good as previous Nokia calendars.
Don't know about the dictionary...
Yes. Lots more flexibility with ringtones than previous models.
Haven't looked into timed profiles, but I haven't seen any mention.
Yes, keylock. No probs so far.
Camera is amazing. Slow to use, but the result is astonishing. And
other photos (life from my old 6230) look much better than before on
the shiny lovely crisp screen.
No backwards compatibility. Dearth of apps at the moment, but many are
being updated, and at least there's Opera.
Mostly stable; had a couple of problems because I'm lazy and don't
always Close apps etc, so they clog up the memory. GEnerally quite a
slow mover.
Seems to have a good signal.
Apart from being slow, and the folder options being insanely complex
(as most of the phone is - I'm dizzied by options!) it' a joy and a
wonder. Haven't had mentioned WiFi problems.
If you're not sure maybe you shoudl wait for the N93. IT looks
sexxxxxxxy.

I echo most of what you said.
I got the N80 yesterday through from Vodafone. I had a couple of
reboots while in the file manager and the camera app, but I had a few
other apps open at the time. I haven't had much joy connecting it to my
WPA protected wireless network yet, but I had missed out a whole screen
of settings that can be tinkered with so I'll give it another try
tonight or tomorrow.
FM radio was a bit rubbish. The station scan didn't seem to work (but
maybe that's just for Visual Radio, not sure) so had to use the manual
tuning option. Reception wasn't very good either, but I didn't try it
with the supplied headphones. I was using it with the adapter and the
headphones I normally use with my iPod.
I too am waiting for the updated apps, such as SatNav (I'll probably end
up buying Navicore when the S60v3 version comes out having had a look at
the features)
Overall, I'm well impressed with the phone. I'm glad I didn't wait for
the Vario II as I would have gotten very annoyed with Windows Mobile
very quickly.

Which is why the reception was bad. The supplied headphones also double as
the aerial. I couldn't get any reception at all when I used my own
headphones so you were lucky you got anything! :o)
