My previous dealings with them weren't quite as bad as yours Mark, but
recently they're much improved, and phoning CS for an online customer is
not an 0845 number. One great thing about my online contract is that
0845 and 0870 numbers come from bundled minutes, I'm pretty sure that
should be the same for a new contract as mine was only taken out in
November.
The email CS still sucks though, and can take ages for what appears to
be a robot response that doesn't answer your question.

Indeed, I was once asked to leave an o2 store after following the
instructions that came with my online phone to ask there for help in the
event of a handset fault.

Sound advice for any agreement, I'd not trust any of the mobile networks
in the event of a dispute.
