| I keep getting texts from someone who has text me before but now I am
getting a message "Incompatible format". I do have an old phone and
maybe the other person has bought a new one but I do not understand
what is going wrong. Any ideas? I am on Orange and the other person is
onT-Mobile.

I don't know if this is applicable, but on some phones you can set text to
unicode or something else - I imagine it to be alphanumeric ATI or
something.
How old is your phone? Text messages should usually always be readable,
unless someone's playing with your plonker.
This sounds pretty similar to your issue:
>I just received a text message, and it says "incompatible format".
>This is on my g75. Since the message came right after I posted
>about ringtones, is it likely that someone tried to send me a ringtone
>for my 6190? Although, come to think of it, I don't think I mentioned
>my phone number in that message.
Certainly a Nokia SmartSMS message (such as a ring tone or graphic) would
produce this message. Just for fun, I sent a graphic to a Motorola L7089 and
it produced a message almost identical to the one you got.

I think this is what is happening as it gives me the number the texts
come from and I recognise it. I think the sender must have a new phone
and my text back are appearing the same way:-(
