cash backs on mobiles How do they do it ????
|
|
|
| Hey guys i was wondering if anyone knew how some companies can afford
to give away so much cashback with mobile contracts...for example check
out mobileconnectionsonl
ine.com
On some of their deals they area giving back almost =A350 of some of
thier contracts ...thier commission cant be more than =A3400 yet they
are giving back up to =A3600. Granted they give crap handsets away but
even the crap handsets at trade price are around =A3100 so....how do
they do it ????
Thanks in advance

| Most people don't send in the forms on the right day, or the company claims
they didn't receive them.
Only go down this dark and dangerous path if you send all cashback requests
by Registered Post on exactly the right day, and get on your knees and pray
to whatever god you subscribe to, that you get your money.

You also have to take a risk that the company will still be trading in
12monhs time. Even if they are owned by a larger company they can still go
bust. Look what happened to forward cellular that was heavily promoted in
this group for the good deals he offered.

Well these guys have been around for some time and send the cashback
direct to your account ...there must be something other than relying on
customers who dont do all the requirements ... i fax them my bill and
they put it straight into my account. Could it be they are buying the
phones on the cheap or even from abroad ?

I had no problems at all with dialaphone. Plenty of time to send in the
claim, 2nd class stamp, responses within a couple of days. Recommended.
Alternatively CPW will match any Internet deal (sorry no experience of this)
with the link http://snipurl.com/rc9g

I'm afraid its extremely difficult for a lot of people to put a stamp on an
envelope
and there is nothing wrong with the phones and most of these companies will
be here tommorow
The only catch is you generally must have a credit and rating + I don't they
will allow you to have more
than 4 free contracts yes totally free.

hmmm doesnt answer the question ....are u saying that they work on the
factor that some of the customers may not get their cashbacks ?? Surely
not ?

Just following up on this. I just did a search for 12 months free deals but
specifically looking for the biggest cashbacks.
Orange Panther 45 and 3 VideoTalk and Text 1100 deals both offer £540
cashback. Surely the operators must get a big slice from the networks.
Otherwise they're just not going to survive.
The phones BTW, probably crap, are Sony Ericsson K510i, Nokia 7360 Brown,
MOS MOS-1 and LG U880 Black. The operators are PhoneboxDirect (look ok -
registered with Quidco), MobileOutlet (cannot find anything about them) and
Coolnewmobile who are also registered with Quidco.

If you're talking about the absolute amount of cashback then I think
that this one wins hands down with £720 cashback:
Buy Mobile Phones
Samsung X660 on Panther 45 (18 months)
16 months free line rental via cashback
Total cashback = £720

That's alot of cashback. So where's Buy Mobile Phones get that cash from ?
Presumably is gets a big lump from Orange.
I'm not a heavy phone user (landline or mobile) but you could get this and
throw away your landline phone.

..=2Ehmmm good deals ...howvere the porblem still remains ...how do small
mobile shops offer so much cashback ? I have done some research into
this and if yr new and dont deal direct with orange etc you have to go
through a distributor ..and sad as i am i have looked into their
commissions and its not enough to pay the cashbacks they are giving. So
the question still remains ...how do they do it ???
could it be they buy mobiles in bulk and therefore get their slice of
profit from this ?

Usually the netweork pays the retailer to sign you up, they just pass
that on to you.
It's frequently used on older phones they want to get rid of, and by
putting in place strict terms and conditions they hope some people
forget / miss a deadline. Older phones are just dead stock, they
can't do anything with them as people want the latest phone.
IN addition it may be to make the del they have with the network
better, ie shioft 100 phones and they pay you £100 per phone, go over
thats say 101 and you move to another bracket and they p[ay you £150 a
phone. Thats why they tend to come out at the middle of the month to
get numbers up for month end. I expect a lot soon as it's coming up on
end of 2Q at the end of the month.

They get some subsidy from the network, and then work on the
assumption that a good proportion of customers will forget to reclaim
their money. Another proportion will fall four of very restrictive and
difficult conditions attached to the cashback.
I suspect that only a minority of cashbacks are actually paid.

I sent my first four months bill off to buymobilephones, over 4 months
ago and after loads of emails and phone calls to them, still have no
cashback cheque. I'm send off the next 4 bills, so they will now owe me
two lots of cashback :(
I'd stay well clear of any cashback deals!!
I think they make their money by putting you on a business tariff,
where they can resell the contract at a profit. I was put on an O2
best for business tariff.

Who do you have your issues with? Afaik it really matters to do your
research as some of these cashback deals often end with
disappointment, others however are more reliable. If you are convinced
that you have done everything right, you could take them to small
claims. Others will know more about this but isn't there legal action
going on already?
