Author Rejected sim question

Reading the rejected sim thread got me wondering, most phones store
loads of numbers, I assume this is in addition to the sim. So is there
any way to save phone numbers on phones instead of sims? Thus getting
over the problem of broken sims. I suspect that perhaps I am showing my
ignorance here.

Indeed. Motorola phones will let you copy both ways.

So will all the Nokias I've ever used, with the exception of cheap older
ones like the 3210 and 3310 which had no onboard memory, you had to use
the SIM.

Yes - any phone made within the last 5-7 years will have an internal
phonebook/memory. In fact, you will have some added functionality such as
multiple numbers per contact and photo ID.
