Author Free or cheap web based SMS

I have been using free2text/fonetastic but they are remarkably unreliable
with messages coming though at 4am and even 3 weeks later.

Can anyone here point me in the direction of either free or cheap SMS
messaging website which is more reliable?

Many thanks.

cbfsms.com seems to be reliable for the limited amount I've used it.
However if they don't have capacity they tell you to try again in 5/10 mins
- they at least tell you they can't send it now. Before their recent
upgrade it would take up to 30 mins to send a text at busy times - seems to
be better now.

Many thanks.

I came across them some time ago when I presume they were less reliable.

Unless I have a VIP account (which costs 5p a go) it doesn't give my number
as the originator of the text. So not entirely ideal.

"CardBoardFish pays for SMS messages by depending on you to support us

number or any mobile number you enter into our site for marketing
etc."

What on earth do they get out of it?

Plus on their sytem status page, I trust that "CBFSMS.com - Unavail"
means that the sms service itself is down, not some aspect of the web
page?

I always find them very unreliable.
