| for a while now i'v had the 'redirect' symbol on
the display, cannot get rid of it, the phone has
never been re-directed anywhere. Its part of the
sim, cause when i use the sim in other phones the
sybol is on the new phone display.
Now another sybol is there, its the flashing
envelope, usually the envelope is static when text
arrives, there are no new texts.

Flashing envelope is that your SMS message store is full, so you cannot
receive any new texts.

##002# will cancel diverts which you might want set. *#21# will just
check if the unconditional divert is set and if its not the symbol
will go.

As Roy is on Orange PAYG it will do nothing except clear his errant
divert symbol. Orange use operator-controlled divert to voicemail, so if
you cancel a divert it just resets and goes to voicemail.
It's a common quirk of Orange PAYG phones that go roaming, when they
come back to the UK the divert symbol is present, even though it's not
possible to set diverts on Orange PAYG!
