Archiving text messages - Nokia PC suite 6 - won't detect phone.

I've been using the above for a few years now with a Nokia 7600, and this
used to archive all my texts to an Access database, along with the name and
number of the sender/recipient. However, I did something to my computer and
now the software won't recognise the bloody phone. Doesn't show up in
connection manager, no matter what I do. I've tried different combinations
of uninstalling/installing/software/drivers/connecting cable in different
USB ports, but nothing. Can anyone offer any advice on how rto solve this?

Tried downloading the latest PC suite, but it seems crap - it stores the
messages in a .csv file, so every time I archive the messages I'm going to
end up with a load of .csv files rather than one Access database. Plus it
puts the messages in there with number only, not name, as Access used to.

So failing being able to solve this, can anyone suggest a solution? Can make
do with the Access database of old messages and a new storage system, as
long as they're all stored together and i can easily identify who sent me
the message without havig to look up the number.

Have you looked at Oxygen Phone Manager? I used that for several years
with my old Nokia phones as it provided a convenient way to send,
receive and archive text messages.

Unfortunately, when I upgraded to a N95 the Symbian version of OPM
didn't work so well and I eventually gave up on it. I now use Nokia
Lifeblog to archive my texts, and that works reasonably well.

Long shot - any other connection software running? I have Palm Hotsync
manager running at startup, and have to manually switch it off before
Nokia phone suite will work properly. Why - GOK but I just know I have
to do it.

ActiveSync, but it's always worked with that before.

If I may hijack this... I use Nokia suite 6 to transfer texts to my PC
so I can print off hard copy, but it's pretty hopeless in that it omits
the time and date.

Is there any software (any of the aforementioned, maybe?) which does
print this info?

I used Nokia PC Suite (NPCS). I had it working perfectly, bluetooth
the lot. I could even use my bluetooth headset with my computer. Then
I did a VERY silly thing. When NPCS said it wanted to update I let it.
After that nothing worked and I've only got it partially working
since. 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' - I should have remembered
that simple rule.
You can uninstall NPCS then use a program that is on the Nokia site
to properly get rid of the NPCS because windows doesn't do it properly
(sorry I can't rmember the name of the software). Then try an old
version of NPCS if you can get hold of one.
Even so, I've never got my computer back to what it was. I despair at
these large companies, who don't properly test their software, before
letting it loose on the unsuspecting public !
