Dang.

I just cracked the screen on my N95. Repairs?

I understand some can get them replaced for about £35 genuinely, and
there are screens on eBay for about a 30 quid.

My fault. But gees, the thing just got tapped lightly and completely
cracked. Me thinks this isn't a good phone if you drop it.

If you're with Vodafone they'll do a subsidised repair for
you. Take it in to one of their stores and they'll arrange
for repair of the screen and you wont pay more than £55 I
think, if it can't be fixed there's no charge, I was
pleasantly surprised when I recently smashed the screen on my
k850i and had no insurance!

Sadly O2. But I'll give them a shot.

But I will call a Nokia Service Centre First.

Then source one on eBay if necessary.

Let me know how you go. My n95's screen has two chips in it which
happened when some vehicle in front of me on a motorcycle trip to
Germany threw up a stone which whacked my pocket.

I had the screen of my N95 replaced at a Nokia Service Centre (with
genuine parts). This wasn't in the UK, but it cost the equivalent of
around £40.

The annoying thing was that I hadn't even dropped the phone, or in any
way damaged it. I just noticed one morning that the display was
slightly distorted and had an overall purple tint to it. It gradually
got worse over the next couple of days until it was complete
unreadable. The phone was only 3 months old at the time.

One would have hoped that if you didn't damage it, that it just would
have been replaced FOC. I'll keep the £40 info in mind, as another
website reckons screen replacements at Service Centres cost about £35.

I don't mind going upto about £60 for a genuine and professional
replacement with guarantee, but any more, I'll just buy one off eBay. Im
a tab hand with a screw driver, blowtorch and soldering iron.

Unfortunately I bought the phone in a different country, and Nokia
Service Centres only seem to honour warranties on phones repaired in
the same country they were bought in.

Carphone Warehouse (yes, I shuddered too), swapped my screen out in an
hour and charged me £45.

Nipped down there after work. Top service!

I don't think it was a warranty thing.

Is this the N95 8GB or standard N95?
I read a review and it mentioned that the N95 8GB screen is much better
protected because it's harder plastic covering the screen, and it's flush
with the front of the phone

So, any N95 8GB screens broken yet?
