Are the PIM apps any good on current Nokia/Symbian phones?

| I'm a former Psion user, currently using a Palm Tungsten and a separate
phone, but my Palm is getting old and may be due for replacement before
it falls apart, and I think it may be time to consider a 1-box
solution.
I *could* just buy a Treo 680, but I miss the much better applications
(address book and more particularly diary) that my old Psion had --
what are the corresponding apps like on the current Nokia phones? Is
there a text editor or general note-taking app?
I'm thinking of phones like the E61i, or maybe the E90 or N95.
I find it strange and frustrating that Nokia's website seems to say
nothing about the software, which is surely half the point of a /smart/
phone?
Cheers,
Daniel.

I used to own a Treo 600 and always used Agendus Pro for calendar and
journal entries, so when the Treo died of death I got myslef a Nokia N73,
which comes with basic, calendar, notes and no text editor.
But there are loads of applications for the Nokia phone which I use to
combat this.
For calendar I've switched to Papyrus and for text editoring I use the free
version of LCG X-Plore which is a file manager, but can handle creating text
files. The N73 and most newer models like the N95 and N82 come supplied with
a read only QuickOffice app for Word/Excel and PPT, but if you upgrade you
can edit txt files.
The E61i is probably better if you're used to a qwerty keyboard, but if you
looking at mostly for PIM you can't beat the Palm. The Nokia's win hands
down on calling, camera, video, etc.., but for some reason are lacking in
the PIM field. Maybe they think everyone has a laptop?
Have a look at my blog to see some of the apps I've got for my N73 which
will work on the N95 as well.

Forgot to say, the nokia's are good it you want the phone for conference
calling, group emailing/texting, I've got a great app Nokia Team Suite. You
can also IM, Email, SIP anf VOIP calling with the N73 (3g) and N95 (via 3g
or Wifi), something you'll never be able to do on a Palm.
