Until recently, Nokias had a brilliantly simple and consistent user
interface. Then they went through a rotten patch, but it seems to be
getting better.
Windows' great innovation was Program Manager in W3.0, getting away
from the remorselessly file-based approach of GUIs like GEM and, of
course, the MacOS of the day. Windows 3.x was consequently quite a
nice interface - tand it's been downhill ever since.

This seems to be recieved wisodm, but I always found them really
fiddly and unintuitive, and never really got on with themn. I like my
new Nokia 6110 Navigator *despite* the interface, definitely not
because of it.
