XDA Orbit - Turn Off the GPRS Icon & Battery useage

| Hi All,
I have an XDA Orbit which appears to be quite hungry on the battery
power, even though I dont really use the phone much.
I do have all the power settings and switch off set to 1 minute and
low light.
I am wondering if its due to the GPRS `G` icon being on and light
flashing away that might be the cause.
But as far as my network options are set, i dont actually have any set
to connect to GPRS because i cannot access the service on my o2
account - only WAP.
If i do connect to the internet i use the 91500 dialup service. The G
icon turns into 2 arrows.
I dont really know what the G icon means.
Is it just GPRS is available on the phone etc? - i know its definately
not accessable as have tried it.
How can i turn it off ???
Many Thanks
MPW

Something wrong there then ... my XDA Orbit will happily last 4 or 5
days on a single charge (and that's including phone calls, some
sat-nav usage and push emails) ...
I suggest you take a look at http://www.xda-developers.com/
Cheers
Jim!

Have you got everything turned off? Like Bluetooth, Wifi, etc?
My one does really well on the battery. I would say its good for a week or
more on standby (24 hours) with the odd call.... Obviously if I use it
more, then that figure goes down.

Hi Steven,
I so wonder, can the GPRS icon be switched off, i assume this would save
more power?
Thanks
