Number porting query

| I'm at the end of my 12-month Vodafone contract and in the process of
moving to Orange, and porting my number over.
My Vodafone PAC code was due to expire on 23 Dec, which is the 12-month
anniversary of my contract, and I gave it to Orange today (my new SIM
card is already up and running on a new temporary number) - they told me
that porting won't take place until 2 January, but they had 'actioned'
the code today so it would definitely work.
My question is what happens between 23 Dec and 2 Jan? Will my Voda
account close and my number be in limbo? Or will it keep running (with
me paying for it) until 2 Jan? Or something else?
Thanks
David

It will keep running until your number ports across to Orange.

Bummer. So my 100% 12-month cashback deal will end up costing me 10
days of airtime! ;-)
Thanks

PS - out of interest, what would have happened if I'd presented my PAC
code to Orange on, say 10 Dec and been advised it would transfer on 20
Dec, ie, before the 12-month anniversary of my Vodafone account? Would
Voda just have refused to do it?

No, Vodafone would have terminated your account on 20 December -- but
still charged you from then until the end of your 12-month contract
for line-rental.

| Hi David,
Your Vodafone number will stay active until the porting process is
complete on the 2nd January. You will still have full service
available on your phone, and you will just pay for the line rental up
until the port date.
Hope this helps,
Techgirl

Ah, Ok - will remember that for next year and won't cut things so fine!
