Author me phones buggered, what to replace with

My nokia 6822 phone has gone and screwed up on me, screens stuck in the flip
mode, so i guess the switch/sensor has gone, dunno if that can be replaced
cheaply, but with the phone stuck in flip mode i cant access the camera or
put the key lock on, camera i'm not bothered about but the key lock is
needed as it lives in my pocket 90% of the time.

i wanted to replace my PDA last year, which i run gps on it mainly, but also
use it to connect to the net via wifi,

So, when i last looked phones that has built in gps and some pda
functionality (i only really need pop e-mail and web browsing) were just
coming out, and the one i liked the most had everything except the wifi that
i needed,

Have there been any developments in the gps/pda/phone thingies? seems the
only network to consider for owt that you use data on is T-mobile, on them
for my pay if i can phone now, so could port the number?? (just got me dog a
new tag with my number on it)

I guess what i want out of one of these do everything phones is:

GPS, able to run tomtom... not sure if they only run the tomtom for phones
version.. but as long as you can add lots of poi's it's ok, as i navigate
around europe in the camper via poi's of the stop over places.

WIFI, to get on the net at home, and abroad where people leave their wifi
networks open with an invite to use them in the names... plus lots of cafe's
and service stations there have free wifi.

i'm not fussed about a camera, and if it can play mp3's well.. so be it, but
that's not high on my list of must haves,

able to function as a windowz pda, i have a computer controlled telescope,
and can run it from my current pda, so if the phone/pda's can run any
windowz mobile 5 software, then it'll run my telescope.

able to make calls.. well i guess that'd be handy too :)

Is there anything that does what i want? and dosent cost a bomb... i wont be
able to afford a high tarrif, right now a fiver lasts me a month, but i'll
want to use the data functions on a pda type phone more than i make calls.

I've had/got a similar problem. The points you raise chime some bells
with me too. I haven't actually taken the plunge yet but I am very
attracted to the Mio a701. It's about £300 and I've read some great
reports along with a few not so good. I'm always worried when reading
the 'not so good' reports because you often get the feeling the
equipment might be in the hands of a self styled IT guru......you know
the sort. They think they know about these things but generally have
only a superficial knowledge. Or worse are thick.

So I can't back up my research with evidence yet but I like the design
with its built-in gps receiver etc.. Take a look?
