Whenever I dial the Pre-Dial geo number 01635578562 [1], from an O2 contract
mobile, the call immediately goes through to an international destination
which is answered 'live'.

This isn't happening from BT, only from O2 contract mobile. I've tried
dialling '+441635578562' and '01635578562' from O2, but I get the same
result.

On O2 I just get the unobtainable tone - but then you can always use
0870/0845 services, as an alternative, on contract tariffs.

I got the same thing when dialing from abroad using VOIP.

Use the other number.

It's not O2's problem. Network provider needs to check it's routes out to O2
and possibly raise an interconnect fault with O2 (or BT) if it thinks the
routing is going out from its network OK, but being buggered up on the way
to O2.

Subject: New Permanent International Call-through on a geographic
number

Reply | Reply to author | Forward | Print | Individual message | Show

As many of you will know, we were trialling a new call-through service
on a

UK geographic number in November. We have now launched the new
permanent

service on two new numbers.

The first number is intended for people to make calls from regular

landlines - ideal for those who have cheap calling packages to 01/02

geographic numbers. The access number for this service is 01635
578562

The second number is intended for people who wish to make calls from
mobile

phones where it is cheap or free to call 01/02 geographic numbers.
The

access number for this service is 01635 578107

Both access numbers can be used 24/7. You will be able to call the
same

destinations as with our O2 mobile access number 0773 066 6890. Anyone
with

cross-network inclusive minutes on a mobile contract should use the
O2

number instead of the geographic number, as we expect the geographic
number

to be in huge demand! There is also another O2 access number to add
extra

capacity on 0779 339 5236.

Just as a reminder, the destinations are as follows:
