Do I take it that The Link shops have gone out of business?

Their stores in Leeds seem to be shut and their telephone numbers
don't work.

They seem to be still selling stuff online though.

I am sad the shops have shut, I have had very good service from them.

I assume I don't need to worry that my Link Coverplan insurance is
still going out?

Doug

They're pulling out of the mobile market I beleive, or
certainly they're reducing the number of stores they have.

Your coverplan should be fine, they're part of DSG.

Thanks for the info.

Could anybody recommend a good, independent supplier of phones instead
of The Link? I like being able to discuss my options face to face.

The Link was sold by their parent company DSG (Dixons Stores Group) to O2,
who have been converting some of their shops into O2, and selling some, to
Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U etc.

Afaik Dixons have closed their shops too and operate only 'on line'.
Their sister company, Currys, now have Currys.Digital shops where they
sell Hi Tech stuff.

The chain was sold several months ago. It has been carved up between
various parties including Orange Retail, 3, Phones 4U, CPW etc.

If you go to the store if/when it gets re-opened you should find the
same people there. If not then they will have been re deployed to an O2
store nearby.

The DSG are still very much in business, your coverplan is quite safe.

The Link were never truly independent as they were part-owned by O2!

In fact there aren't really any truly independent chains stores left
now. CPW have dropped Vodafone contract, and are pushing O2, Phones 4U
have jumped into bed with Vodafone.
