Author What's the best deal on Orange at the moment?

I have an Orange phone (6230i) on a Talk 200 contract plus Everyday 50
on the second line. I've had the contract for well over a year and am
trying to get a better deal. I mainly use the phone for talking with,
perhaps, half a dozen texts a month.

I'm quite happy with the handset I have. I'd rather not go in for
cashback as I'm rather disorganised and might forget to lodge the
claim timeously and so lose out.

I'd rather stick with Orange but might be prepared to move provider if
the deal is very very good.

As you said you may be tempted to change, have you
seen the 3 £15 for 500 minutes tariff?

you would pay an extra 60p for those texts, but
would give you more mins for less

also has a choice of semi-decent phones IMHO

Searching on http://saynoto0870.com/companysearch.php takes but a few
seconds and gives you 0880 and 01X

Just what serch terms did you use to find these numbers Stephen? I
tried with 3 mobile/hutchinson telecom/ and one or two others the
other day and drew a blank .
Cost me ten minutes on a 0870 number to cancel my account yesterday
due to them sending me a phone that I could not get the back of to
incert the battery and Sim.

Huthinson would draw a blank for sure. It's "Hutchison".

incorrectly!!

Ok, hands up at the outset that knowing the tariff offerings inside out is
not my speciality, I have no need to know such things these days, but...

How about one of the new animal offerings? Without looking at the "devil in
the detail", some of them seem to give quite generous off-peak voice
allowances that might compensate for the loss of ED50 somewhat.

I'm sure there are flaws with these tariffs - 1p delivery reports is one
that springs to mind, but that'll cost you perhaps 6p it seems! The obvious
one is inclusive 0870 & 0845 but you can work around that to a certain
extent with saynoto0870.com as others have pointed out.

I don't know whether the new Orange-SIM-only deals are available on all the
tariff ranges, but this would sort out your "no need for a new phone"
issue...

Just a thought, apologies if I've missed anything obvious!!

Regards

Jon.
